We were planning to conduct our AGM on 17th March, 2020, but due to coronavirus, it was postponed and later conducted online on 11th April, the results were as follows:

  1. Social media coordinator- Ishani Mukherjee

  2. Events coordinator- Ananya Srivasthan

  3. Campaigns coordinator- Rachita Dilip Sundaram

  4. First year coordinator- Triptajit Chakraborty

  5. Welfare officer- Pragati Mishra

  6. PG Students rep- Sagar Suresh Kumar

  7. Creative Director- Ameerah Gardee

Pragati’s post was changed to student engagement officer on her request and by the approval of the board.

Ameerah decided to resign later on 13th July from the society.

Rachita resigned from her post on 2nd August, 2020.

Triptajit resigned on 6th August, 2020.

Over the course of time, our website was established by Fatima Saeed, and several other social media pages were set up by the executives. These were later handed over to Ishani Mukherjee to handle. Our social media engagement increased multiple folds under Ishani’s management.

Welfare policy was written by Fatima Saeed along with a complaints form. This was later sent to the SRC which suggested some changes regarding escalating complaints to the senate. These were then incorporated temporarily by the board and have to be formally included in the constitution during the next EGM.

We hosted 3 events over the span of the last 4 months-

1. Movie screening on Netflix of the movie 3 idiots, was moderately attended.

2.Next movie screening came during sexual assault awareness month in collaboration with Campaigns and Charities committee of the Queen Margaret Union, it was not well attended.

3.Next event was during pride month in collaboration with GULGBTQ+ society, it talked about being queer in Ancient India and was very well attended and received. The live video was saved and has been watched multiple times. It was a well informed and researched event- organized by Sanskar Ranglani, Fatima Saeed and Pragati Mishra.

In July, Club Bollyistan, an entertainment service approached us with a contract offer for collaboration. After holding a meeting with them and further discussions, both the parties agreed to their terms and conditions which have been laid out in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the president Ritika Pandey and sent to Club Bollyistan.

Cross campus presence and Queen Margaret Union Cultural Sub-committee –

Our cross-campus presence has been emboldened due to the strong presence of the executives cross-campus, specifically in the Queen Margaret Union’s Cultural Sub-committee, established and managed by our executives. This will further be built upon and utilized to help the society grow in a conducive manner.

The President and the Vice- President, Ritika Pandey and Jahnvi Kadakia held individual meetings with all the members of the society to discuss their future plans with the society and to ensure their welfare. The goals were collected a document was shared with the executive. The content of the meetings remains highly confidential and was not disclosed.

Rachita Dilip Sundaram wanted to establish a dance sub-committee within the society but this was later scrapped.

Podcast- managed and run by Ishani Mukherjee and Ananya Srivasthan, who are the also the hosts. It is available on 6 channels and does not have one recurring topic but talks about general experiences as students. This has further been discussed and its future course of development will get more evolved in the upcoming weeks.

Conclusion- We have had a good start to our first few months as the Indian Society and have established a strong cross campus presence. We have laid out future provisions and have a vision. We hope to execute them by the end of our terms as executives of this society.
